International Conference Migration and Identity in the European Union, Oradea, 8-9 November 2007 |
RCIMI continued its annual series of events by organizing a new conference between 8-9 November 2007 on the topic Migration and Identity in the European Union. The aim of this fourth international conference was to consolidate the partnerships established with researchers from Romania and abroad and also to open new directions for cooperation and to identify new research opportunities.
The topics discussed at this conference were:
Section I. Labor Migration within the European Union - Realities, Policies, Expectations
Section II. Migration and Participation: Civic Attitudes, Economical and Socio-Political Rights of Migrants
Section III. National Identity and European Identity

International Seminar Migration and Identity in a Changing Europe: Building Partnerships and Fostering Communication, 2006, November 23-25, Oradea
This international seminar was organized by the Reserach Centre on Identity and Migration Issues - Univeristy of Oradea, with the financial support of the Open Society Foundation - Romania.
The topics proposed for this seminar were the following:
I. Labour migration and the protection of the migrant workers: legal instruments, methods and institutions
involved in managing this process;
II. Illegal migration and its consequences. Visa Policies of the CEE states;
III. Social and economical impact of migration in origin and destination states;
IV. Migration and the new European identities;
V. How to network? Perspectives for a future cooperation.

This is the second conference out of an annual series organized by the RCIMI - Faculty of Political Science and Communication Sciences at Oradea-Baile Felix on an up-to-date research topic: European Identity and Free Movement of Persons. The papers presented at the conference were published in a volume bearing the same name and edited by Lia Pop şi Cristina Matiuţa (Editura Universităţii din Oradea, 2005, 375 p. ISBN 973-613-960-3).

International Conference Free Movement of Persons in
Europe, Oradea, 19-21 March 2004 |
Between 19-21 March 2004, University of Oradea, Faculty of Political Science organized the international conference
Free Movement of Persons in Europe, which benefited from the participation of numerous experts on migration, university
professors and representatives of different institutions dealing with migration issues (i.e. OIM Romania, Romanian Ministry
of Foreign Affairs, etc.). This event overlapped the launching of the MA Program in Free Movement of Persons in
Europe, which is the first program of such a kind offered to students in Romania.
